Dhammayatra is a boutique travel business managed by Leela Excursions Private Limited a company incorporated in May 2009 (based in Nagpur) to facilitate needs of Westerners and Buddhists from Asian Countries go on Pilgrimages to visit the holy sites of the Buddha in India and Nepal. As well as facilitate Indian people to travel abroad in very affordable way. We have high standards and speciality to organise excursions with small groups. Our inspiration and mentors are Dhammachari Lokabandhu and Dhammachari Maitridasa from U.K. and Dhammachari Viradhamma from USA. Mr. Rajan Bhaware (Retd. I.A.S.) Rajan Bhaware is Chairman of Leela Excursions Private Limited. He served in various administrative departments for Government until retired in January 2006. He is a recipient of award for his work as District Collector of Bhandara from the President of India in 2003. He is also Founder & Chairman of Pratibha Foundation, Yavatmal an NGO promoting education and a sustainable farming. He has passion for travel and promoting tourism. Mr. Ravindra Bhaware (A.k.a. Dhammachari Manidhamma) Ravindra Bhaware is Managing Director and was trained as pilot, ordained in the Triratna Buddhist Order and given name Dhammachari Manidhamma in November 1994. He set up a Buddhist Centre and a Destitute Children Home in Hyderabad and went to UK on Sngharakshita scholarship, undertaking a full time program of Buddhist study and retreats in 2001. He is also visiting Hungary sine 2005, where he helped to establish ‘Jaibhim Network’ to communicate Buddhism to Hungarian Gypsies. He is the Co-founder of Dhammaloka Trust, Sarnath and set up an online fund-raising charity FWBO Dhammaloka in the UK. He has M.A. in Dr Ambedkar Thought, and Buddhist Studies, P.G. Diploma in Travel and Tourism, Diploma of IATA. After spending six years in the West he returned to India in January 2008. He is Co-founder and Secretary of Pratibha Foundation, Yavatmal a charity helping in higher education to marginalised people in Vidarbha region. In 2011 set up Sanghabhoomi Meditation and Training Centre at Borgaon, Yavatmal and in October 2012 he incorporated Golden Light Foundation to fundraise for Nagarjuna Training Institute, Nagpur where he is a Trustee and teaches when not travelling. He has a passion for study and his main interests include Socially Engaged Buddhism, Naturopathy and Travelling. Mr. Anupam Sawarkar Anupam is expert in Domestic Tour operations. He is a Dhammamitra and has experience in IT and book keeping. He studied B.Com. He has passion for singing and likes traveling. He is a long standing team member. Ms. Rajashree Gajbhiye Rajashree is expert in International Destinations. She completed her P.G. Diploma in Travel and Tourism with first class and has passion for tourism. She is expert in International destinations of Sri Lanka, Thailand. She works for distance learning and vocational courses for marginalised students through her NGO in Nagpur. Ms. Sandhya Narwade Sandhya is our Office Administrator. She studied B.A., B.Ed. was teacher before joined Dhammayatra team. She is Dhammamitra and a multifaceted personality. She has an eye for details and helps running office smoothly and organised. On tour she carefully prepares menu, hygienic food and superior accommodations, ensuring high standards of service in the industry.
